Damian Max - Director and Principle Building Surveyor
I was born in Hamilton and originally started in the construction industry as a building apprentice. I completed my apprenticeship and became a qualified builder in Tauranga before moving to Auckland and starting up my own building company. During this period, I managed and built many luxurious houses in the Remuera and St Heliers area’s in Auckland before specialising in water affected houses that were problematic in the early 2000’s. This included identifying the issues that lead to the failures in claddings and roofs and then rectifying them while working closely with industry specialists and local District Councils.
My passion in wanting to help people, resulted in me joining the NZ Police. During my time working in the NZ Police, I gained valuable experience in how to investigate complicated matters and write reports that were frequently used in Court Hearings. I worked in the Tactical Crime Unit that dealt with methamphetamine related issues on a daily basis. This is where I gained my knowledge around drugs and saw first-hand how meth effects people and what the signs and indicators are where manufacturing and consumption has taken place.
I decided to put all my training and experience as a qualified builder and Police investigator together and became a Building Surveyor and a tester for methamphetamine in houses.
Our Mission / Vision
We want all of our customers to be totally satisfied with our services that we provide and be happy that they chose us. Total House Inspections, is a small family business that believes in old fashioned moral standards by providing a more professional and personalised service. You won’t be treated as just another number or inspection. We are totally independent from other trades and real-estate agents, which means that you get a non-bias’s inspection and report that clearly outlines any areas of concern. We also don’t complete any of the remedial work on the houses that we inspect.
Confidentiality: The inspection findings and written report will be given to you and only you as the paying client. The real estate agent, owner, occupier or third party won’t be notified or informed of the inspection outcome unless approved or initiated by you.
Respect: The house being inspected will be treated like it’s my own and any damage caused by me will be fixed at my own expense. I know that a lot of clients don’t understand building terms and jargon, so I will make myself available to explain any uncertainties to ensure that you have a clear understanding of what the issues are. But most importantly you as the client will also be treated with respect throughout the service.
Punctual: Arriving on time and when I said I would is very important to me. I know that time is very precious, so I will remain in contact if situations arise that are out of my control.
Communication: We have all sent emails, left messages on phones for companies to get back to us and never heard from them again. I am focussed to ensure that this doesn’t happen to any of my customer’s and will ensure that I reply to you at the soonest possible time.
Our Comprehensive Reports
Total House Inspections uses the best report writing software available on the market to ensure that the client gets a comprehensive and detailed report that is easy to read and understand. The finished report can either be sent by PDF to your email address, a hard copy couriered to your home address or by viewing the report online where you are given a user log on name and password to access your report. Viewing the report online means that you can enlarge photographs, view any video / audio clips that may be used and even download the report to your computer or forward it to another person.
